(L-R) Genna, Hannah Martin & Kaysha

 Kaysha

Tell us about yourself:

My name is Kaysha and i am 36 years old. I am a born and bred Londoner although from a mixed Grenadian and white British background. I work in a public facing role for the local authority which has been extremely difficult during the pandemic.

I enjoy meeting new people, cooking and eating (I am a bit of a desert snob). I like walking outdoors and being with my son and family. My ideal evening would be a comedy night! Particularly Black British comedy.

Why did you want to be part of the Hannah Martin campaign?

I have recently been through some big life changes and am now pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I would never have entered this type of competition in 2020 however, I am trying new things now and testing how far i can push myself. I entered and didn’t think i would win and was so excited when i did.

 Why do you follow Hannah?

Hannah is such a warm lovely person and i wanted to meet her. She is beautiful humorous and a great make up artist. I love Hannah's lives and often try to recreate them when i am.going out.

What was your favourite part about the campaign shoot?

I loved meeting the other artists, i was obsessed with their make up kits. I also loved being behind the camera which shocked me as i would usually shy away. Everyone was so encouraging it was such fun!

What does makeup mean to you?

Make up instantly lifts my mood. I have implemented it into my life so i get some me time. Every morning no matter what, i give myself 10 minutes even if i am running late to focus on myself and to make myself look fresher. I don’t wear lots of make up but have learn't that I don’t need to since following artists like Hannah. If i am having a dull day, i draw my face on and the mood follows. This has always worked for me. Make up is my happy place. It excites me and I buy so much of it. It’s that unapologetic promised me time.

Fun fact about you that nobody knows?

I am obsessed with heavy weight boxing and watch every match. I even wake up for the 4am matches. As well as wanting to be a TV presenter, I should be a boxers wife hehe!!

Thank you my beauty brand for the best experience. Call me again and i will do it in a heart beat. Xx

Genna

Tell us about yourself:

Genna Williams, I work as a maternity practitioner which involves supporting, physically and emotionally parents-to-be and new parents with their newborns. Advising on care of newborn/ routines/feeding/sleep/products as-well as troubleshooting. Hobbies are baking (who doesn't love cake), flower & veg gardening and modern calligraphy. I'm 42, married and living in the Kent country with our ragdoll cat and chickens.

Why did you want to be part of the Hannah Martin campaign?

Ive suffered with self esteem and confidence issues  for about 15yrs, down to weight gain from mental health  (various reasons particularly infertility) and a  medical issue. I had started to try to work on myself  in the last couple of years with CBT to tell myself that who I am is not what I look like and I needed to start to love who I am. I felt this was a huge opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone that this might be the start of love and confidence for myself. Also who would not want to spend a day playing with makeup with Hannah!!

 Why do you follow Hannah?

Hannah makes u feel like ur catching up with ur mate. She has such an infectious energy. But for makeup, she creates amazing looks that are achievable for the everyday person. On a much more personal level I know she gets and sympathises with our infertility journey. Hannah's stories are always one of the first I look for!

What was your favourite part about the campaign shoot?

For me it was what the whole day and people there gave me,  it boosted my confidence and i was surprised how emotional I felt due to the positivity everyone gave me. I felt that people saw "me" and not just a fat person.

My sister's said they could see I was just glowing when I video called them afterwards on the way home.

I still can't help but smile like a cheshire cat when I see the pics/stories etc

What does makeup mean to you?

It gives me a platform to be whatever I want to be on any day.  Makeup is about confidence and how that can make me feel empowered. That I can give myself time in a day that's just for me , to make me feel good and feel pretty. Ive realised after the shoot that makeup isn't about covering up my imperfections but to accentuate what i have.

Fun fact about you that nobody knows?

So at the age of 12 I was given the best Xmas present ever...a Samsonite vanity case as I had just started to get into makeup...good old collection 2000! And 30yrs later I still have it as cant bare to get rid of it due to the memories attached, however it now holds my stockpile of skincare away from my hubbie 😂
